State ready for final phase of elections: CEO

Chief Electoral Officer, K Ravi Kumar today said that the second phase of voting will be held on November 20 at 14,218 booths in a total of 38 assembly constituencies. Out of these, voting will be held from 7 am to 4 pm at 31 booths only.

He said that polling parties have reached their respective polling stations to conduct voting. He appealed to all voters to go to the polling station with their family, neighbours and friends and vote in a festive atmosphere. He was addressing a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Tuesday.

He informed that out of the 14,218 booths of the second phase, 48 booths have been developed as unique booths. The number of polling stations operated by women is 239. 22 polling stations will be operated by Divyangjans, whereas, the arrangement of 26 polling stations will be in the hands of youth.

In response to a question, he said that whatever cases of violation of the code of conduct come to the notice of the Election Commission, the process of action is started by promptly registering a case on them. So far, action has been taken by registering 90 cases in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

While responding to questions posed in the press conference, he also appealed to the journalists that if they too come across cases of violation of the Model Code of Conduct, they should share it with the Election Commission along with evidence, the Election Commission will ensure action as per the rules.

He informed that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal material and cash worth more than Rs 200 crore have been seized till now.
