In preparation for the upcoming inauguration of the Outpatient Department (OPD) services at the 500-bed hospital on the MGM Medical College campus, Minister of Health, Medical Education, Family Welfare, and Food Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Banna Gupta, conducted an inspection of the facility. The hospital is set to be launched by the Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, on October 5, 2024.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Principal Secretary of the Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Department Ajay Kumar Singh, Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Abu Imran, cum-Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, and Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, the Minister closely examined the construction progress of the new hospital.
During the visit, Banna Gupta chaired a high-level meeting with key officials, including representatives from the Building Corporation, the Chief Engineer, and executives from L&T, the implementing agency overseeing the construction. The Minister expressed his commitment to ensuring that all construction work is completed in time for the upcoming inauguration and that the hospital will be fully equipped to provide top-tier medical services to the region.
In a press briefing, the Minister outlined the impressive features of the new medical facility, stating that MGM Medical College will soon house a total of 851 beds, including 131 ICU beds, 620 general beds, and a separate 100-bed critical care unit. He emphasized that the hospital will significantly elevate healthcare services for residents of the Kolhan division and surrounding districts. "With the completion of this state-of-the-art facility, we will be able to provide high-level healthcare to the people of Kolhan and neighboring areas, addressing critical needs and improving access to quality medical care," the Minister said.
Additionally, Banna Gupta reviewed the operational plans for the hospital, discussing with the officials the resources still required for the smooth and effective functioning of the facility. He stressed the importance of completing the remaining work swiftly to ensure that the hospital is ready to serve the public on schedule. "Soon, this hospital will be dedicated to the people of Kolhan, offering them world-class healthcare services," he added.
City SP Rishabh Garg, SDO Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar, Civil Surgeons of East Singhbhum and West Singhbhum Dr. Sahir Pal and Dr. Jujhar Majhi, NDC David Balihar, District Planning Officer Arun Dwivedi, and other senior administrative and police officials were also present during the inspection.

The inauguration is expected to mark a significant milestone in the state’s healthcare journey under the leadership of Chief Minister Hemant Soren,” said an official.
