Sagar Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Research Ratibad campus (SIPTec-R) organized an insightful expert Session on "Nanomaterials in Ocular Drug Delivery Systems. The specialised field brought Pharmacy students, faculties, and researchers together to explore cutting-edge advancements with invaluable insights into the potential of nanomedicine to revolutionise ocular drug delivery.
Distinguished expert Professor Dr. Vivek Dave, Head of the Department of Pharmacy at Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), Gaya shared an in-depth presentation on Nanomaterials in Ocular Drug Delivery and highlighted its transformative role in overcoming the limitations of conventional eye drops.
Dr Dave added on the nanoparticle's minuscule size and extensive surface area to enhance drug solubility and bio-availability. Dr Dave also shared that nanoparticles are designed to bypass physiological barriers in achieving better penetration at target sites and extending therapeutic effects with lower doses yet reducing toxicity. Dr. Dave further discussed the versatility of drug nanoparticles with their notable ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, penetrate the pulmonary system, and pass through tight endothelial junctions in the skin. The session captivated attendees with insights into the clinical applications of nanomaterials for treating complex ocular diseases, marking a significant leap forward in personalized and precision medicine.
Dr Kuldeep Ganju Principal SIPTec, Dr Jitendra Bajaj Principal SIPTec R, Manish Billore Principal SISTec were present in the expert session with Dr. Jyoti Deshmukh, Group Director SISTec expressed her support to Dr Dave for his knowledge-sharing initiatives.
