A 24-year-old domestic servant was arrested for stealing gold and diamond jewelleries from his employer's house in south Delhi.
According to the police on Friday, the accused, who has been identified as Ganesh Dutt, was staying at his employer's house showing himself as innocent and to hoodwink police investigation.
Police have recovered golden pendant, gold beads ancestral necklace, gold earrings, gold ring, diamond ring, two diamond bangles, eight silver and four gold coins were recovered from his sister's house.
"A 92-year-old woman had complaint told police that she lives alone as her child lives abroad. She was checking her ornaments items which were kept in the Almirah, but she did not find them. She reported the matter at Lodhi Colony police station," said the police officer.
Police further registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter. Team visited the crime spot and gathered more information about the incident and also checked the CCTV footage of the crime spot as well as surrounding areas, said the officer.
"From the analysis of CCTV footage, there was no trespass in the complainant's house during the time of incident. The complainant was questioned thoroughly. Team suspected Ganesh Dutt, a domestic house helper. Initially he declined his involvement in the crime but on sustained interrogation he confessed. On his instance, the stolen jewelleries were recovered from his sister's residence in Ghitorani," said the officer.
