Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on Thursday directed the officers of the State Crime Branch to take over and investigate cases of fraud involving Rs. 5 crore or more in the State. Chairing a meeting to review crime control measures, Kapur sought a report from the officers regarding the action taken so far on 11 major pending cases in the State Crime Branch.

DGP said that the State Crime Branch is a strong and important unit of Haryana Police, and therefore, it is imperative to investigate any case thoroughly. The team of the State Crime Branch should study the cases closely, keeping in mind all the aspects of the cases, so that strict action can be taken against the guilty person, he added.

The DGP further directed in the meeting that three new criminal laws have been implemented across the country since July 1, so it is necessary to work in accordance with the new laws.
In the meeting, Kapur also expressed his views regarding cybercrime control. He said that an appropriate and effective action plan should be made to catch the criminals in digital arrest related cases.

In the meeting, SP Cyber Amit Dahiya informed that in the year 2023, about 1500 complaints were received daily on the cyber helpline number, which has now increased to between 2500 and 2800. In such a situation, it is necessary to increase the number of personnel deployed on the helpline number. Acting immediately on this matter, the DGP also ordered an increase in the number of personnel deployed on the cyber helpline number-1930.  He said, “Every call coming on the helpline number is important. Therefore, it is our responsibility that all calls are attended on time so that prompt action can be taken on the complaints received on it.”

Additional Director General of Police, State Crime Branch, Mamta Singh informed that active work is being done to control cybercrime. Hotspots in Haryana related to cybercrime are being identified from where cases of cybercrime are reported relatively more. Cybercriminals are on the radar of the police and a planned approach is being taken to control cybercrime, she added.
