Delhi Police has beefed up security around the Israel Embassy in Tughlak Road area after the tension increased in the middle east following Iran's missile attacks on Israel on Tuesday. A senior Delhi Police officer said the checking has been intensified with the deployment of more security personnel around the Israel Embassy located at Tughlak Road area. This comes after two blasts reported near the Israel embassy near Denmark on Wednesday.
The officer said a multi-layered security has already been put in place with several CCTV cameras installed around both structures as the embassy has witnessed blasts twice earlier, though no one was injured in any of the incidents. The situation is not only tensed in the middle east but also in India. Out of many reason one important reason is the Indian citizens who are currently in Israel.
According to top intelligence sources, proper scrutiny of the security of diplomats was being carried out.Sources said Indian authorities were watching immigrations closely. “We don’t want India to become a battleground in the fight between the two countries and we want to remain neutral," sources said.
Security at the Israel embassy was upped last year after Israel went into war with Hamas in Gaza after the Palestinian group's surprise attack on Israel on October 7 last year.
In August, the Delhi Police had reviewed the security at the Israel embassy and Chabad House after receiving alerts from intelligence agencies following the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh at his residence in Tehran. Suspected IED blasts have occurred twice near the embassy in 2021 and 2023. No injuries were reported in both the explosions.
