For the holistic development of children studying in classes 6 to 8 in the state, the School Education Department has decided to organize various activities for children on Bagless Day. Apart from studies, various cultural, literary, and practical activities will be conducted among the children on this day.
In this regard, the Rajya Shiksha Kendra has issued instructions to the District Education Officers and District Project Coordinator. A provision has been made in the National Education Policy 2020 that the children studying in schools can become familiar with the skills of the 21st century, for which children from Classes 6 to 8 will be allowed to go to school without their bag on at least one Saturday every month.
This Bagless Day should be utilized instead to enhance their practical skills.
School principals and teachers have also been asked to discuss and prepare a calendar of activities for Bagless Day. Information about the activities has been asked to be sent to rsk.curriculum@gmail.com- the e-mail ID of “HD Geo Tag Photograph” Rajya Shiksha Kendra. The objective of Bagless Day is to prepare students to be successful, innovative, and responsible citizens. Along with this, the aim is to develop a scientific approach, evidence-based thinking, and creativity in the students.
It is important to develop Indian knowledge tradition and environmental consciousness along with communication, expression of ideas, health, and nutrition, the spirit of sports cooperation, and leadership qualities among the students.
The Rajya Shiksha Kendra has also issued guidelines regarding the activities to be conducted on Bagless Day. In arts and crafts, drawing, painting, making clay toys, masks, doll-making, and making objects from waste materials are prominent. Literary and cultural activities should include folk song-dance, short drama, poetry recitation, and story writing.
