Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri's petition has been listed for hearing in the Supreme Court (SC). According to media reports, Ranchi DC's petition may be heard on December 6.
Bhajantri has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court. Ranchi DC in his petition has challenged the High Court order, in which HC has ordered him to be kept away from election work. The Deputy Commissioner has sought the cancellation of that order from the Supreme Court.
On September 22, the Jharkhand High Court accepted the petition of appeal filed against the order to take departmental action against IAS officer Manjunath Bhajantri and keep him away from election work.
At the same time, after this decision of the High Court, Manjunath Bhajantri was kept away from election work. Apart from this, he was hurriedly removed from the post of Ranchi DC during the code of conduct implemented for the assembly elections in the state. Also, Varun Ranjan was posted as Ranchi DC in his place. However, after the swearing-in of CM Hemant Soren, the state government again appointed Manjunath Bhajantri as the Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi.
Meanwhile, Bhajantri reviewed the cleanliness and maintenance of the Collectorate premises. The nodal officer deputed for cleanliness was present on the spot.
The Deputy Commissioner directed to pay special attention to the cleanliness of the toilet, beautification of the Collectorate premises and cleaning of the drinking water area. The Deputy Commissioner took information about improving the fire fighting and drainage system and solar energy system in the Collectorate.
Bhajantri took information about the presence of officials in all the zonal and block offices through Google location. The Deputy Commissioner held a meeting in the office cell and also took information about the identity cards of all the officers and employees at the Collectorate level and the presence of employees and the work of the Public Grievance Cell.
