RPC, RBS Vedic Trust announce Jharkhand Journalism Awards 2024

Tuesday, 31 December 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Senior journalist and former Information Commissioner Baijnath Mishra has said that just as Dadhichi donated his bones to protect his kingdom, journalists give their all to guide society. Honouring such journalists is a way of honouring society itself, he said. Mishra made these remarks on Sunday during the announcement of the Jharkhand Journalism Awards 2024 at the Ranchi Press Club.

He said that this is the first time since the formation of Jharkhand that the Ranchi Press Club, in collaboration with the RBS Vedic Trust, has decided to organise the Jharkhand Journalism Awards, which is a commendable initiative.

Ranchi Press Club president Surendra Soren said that awards would be presented in three categories: Lifetime Achievement Award (Rs. 31,000, shawl, and memento), Best Reporter Award (Rs. 21,000, shawl, and memento), and Best Photography Award (Rs. 21,000, shawl, and memento). Retired IAS officer Ranendra Kumar, a jury member, emphasized that the selection would be carried out with full transparency. RBS Vedic Trust president Nityanand Shukla expressed his happiness at being part of the event to honour journalists.

Press Club secretary Amarkant said that nominations for the Jharkhand Journalism Awards can be submitted at the Ranchi Press Club till January 15. Separate applications must be submitted for each category. The application form can be downloaded from the Ranchi Press Club's website or obtained directly from the club. Complete applications, along with necessary documents, should be submitted to the Ranchi Press Club by January 15, 2025.

Nityanand Shukla said that a seven-member jury would examine the applications and make the final decision. The jury includes senior journalists Baijnath Mishra and Sonali Das, Ranchi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajit Kumar Sinha, retired IAS officer Ranendra Kumar, Ranchi Press Club president Surendra Lal Soren, General Secretary Amarkant, and Trust president Nityanand Shukla.
