Revamp of all ISBTs expected to be over in month

The ongoing revamp work of all the three Inter-State Bus Terminals(ISBT)namely Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan is expected to be over in a month’s time, Raj Niwas said on Monday.

Giving details, officials said after improvement in turnaround time, circulation of buses and better peripheral traffic, owing to introduction of new stand fee structure from Sunday,  works is on in full swing for improvement of civic and other infrastructure inside and around the complexes.    

Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena, who had visited ISBT Kashmere Gate on 31.08.2024 and ISBT Sarai Kale Khan and ISBT Anand Vihar on 09.09.2024 along with senior officers, had found and underlined many discrepancies, shortcomings and lack of maintenance and issued directions to rectify and redress the same.

The LG, who has been reviewing traffic and transport issues along with senior officials of Delhi Police and Transport Department on a weekly basis since the beginning of August, had inspected the three ISBTs and taken stock of the passenger amenities and operational processes.

He had found the deteriorating infrastructure & amenities at the ISBTs and posted his concerns on social media.

The DTIDC has submitted a compliance report on the action taken with regards to the directions issued. So far, the following works with regards to makeover, repair and maintenance have been carried out.

At Entry Gate of buses at ISBT Kashmere Gate, damaged footpath, which had been pointed out by LG, has been reconstructed.

 Also, condition of Porta Cabin at the entrance barrier of FASTag was found in deteriorated condition same has been improved.

 The face of store room near FASTag barrier was in bad condition same has been improved.  A damaged wall of ASI was observed and a letter has been written to ASI to restore the same.

Also, encroachment along the ASI wall was directed to be removed and the DM in coordination with ASI, is ensuring the same.

At departure block of ISBT Kashmere Gate, encroachment of existing shops in ISBT Premises was observed and the same has been removed.

It was observed that existing ticket counters at departure block were disturbing the movement of commuters same has been shifted to Link Block 1st Floor.

 During inspection some damage patches in flooring at waiting hall were observed and the same has been rectified. False ceiling, broken tiles, manhole covers was directed to be rectified. The work is in progress. On the first floor of ISBT Kashmere Gate, during inspection, existing condition of lights were found insufficient. Now sufficient light fittings have been provided.

At exit gate of ISBT Kashmere Gate towards Lothian Road, damaged footpath was observed accordingly same has been reconstructed.  During inspection horticulture works were found to be insufficient.

Now sufficient planters and plants have been placed at various locations.

As regards ISBT Sarai Kale Khan, the face work of entire ISBT was in bad condition.  Works to rectify the same are in progress.  Sanitary fittings of toilet were old and some of them have cracks. Replacement of fittings is in progress.

The roofing of platforms was old and corroded. Replacement of roof is in progress.  Face work of Administrative block was directed to be  improved and the same is in progress.

In the premises of ISBT Anand Vihar, it was directed to provide a passage through platform A and DMRC Boundary wall. The work is in progress.

During the inspection by LG, a number of potholes in between platform A and B, platform B and C and DTC entry road were found. Repair work of road is in progress.

During inspection, it was observed that there was a depressed portion of flooring on the platform D. The replacement of Kota stone is in progress.
