A seven days long Wildlife Week 2024, is being celebrated by Jharkhand State Forest department all across the State.
In continuation of the same 5 and 10 Km long Wildlife Walkathon was hosted by Forest Department, Jharkhand, Ranchi on October 6th Walkathon start point was Van Bhavan Campus, Doranda Ranchi and enroute through Kadru Road to Argora Chowk to Birsa Chowk to Hinu Chowk and ended at Van Bhawan, Doranda.
Secretary Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Aboobacker Siddique P graced as Chief Guest of the occasion and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Force, Dr Sanjay Srivastava as special guest of the occasion were present in the events.
On the said occasion Shashikar Samanta PCCF cum nodal officer WLDB, Satyajit Singh PCCF Wildlife and Chief Wildlife Warden, Sanjay A Latkar, ADG of Police, SR Natesha CCF Wildlife and all the senior forest officers, including active participation of Forest officer wives’ association (FOWA) were also present.
Walkathon hit the huge success as nearly 2500 persons participated in the event.
Participants include Citizen Foundation NGO, TATA Steel and other Corporates, 1500 students fromLady K.C. Roy Memorial school Ranchi, DAV Alok Public School, Pundag, Ranchi, Saraswati Shishu Vidhya MandirDurwa Ranchi, Vidhyasagar School Doranda Ranchiand various other schools, Railway officials, NCC cadets.
The session was kick started by releasing the ceremonial balloon and flagging off two awareness vans.
Addressing the gathering Siddique said that it is our shared responsibility to protect wildlife and once we protect wildlife, inherently forest would be protected. He further said that to protect important wild life diversity of Jharkhand everyone’s participation is necessary and our lifestyle should be directed in such a way that it protects wildlife. He praised and congratulated all the school children of various age group, officers, tribals and all the person for participating in the events as it will send a message to younger ones in protecting the nature.
Special Guest of the occasioned Dr. Sanjay Srivastava PCCF and HoFF, Jharkhand while addressing the school students present and others, appealed for them to be aware and sensitive towards the conservation of forest sand wildlife. He said that we have to protect the nature to protect ourselves. This walkathon is for sending a message to masses and taking a pledge for the same.
Students and Walkathon participants carried the placards depicting the message of Wildlife Conservation. They were appealing the same through slogans also.
Traffic police ensured the safe movements of the school children in walkathon
Forest official made special arrangements for water and health drinks at Argora Chowk and Birsa chowk for participants. Chau dancers were also there in events at various location to entertain and aware the masses about the Wildlife Week.
