Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sibin C on Monday confirmed that all arrangements are in place for the upcoming bye-elections in four assembly constituencies. The polling, scheduled for November 20 from 7 am to 6 pm, will see 6,96,965 voters cast their ballots at 831 polling stations under strict security and transparency measures. To ensure peaceful elections, 17 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and 6,481 Punjab Police personnel have been deployed. Additionally, 3,868 polling staff will oversee the process. Critical polling stations across the constituencies will be monitored through 100 percent live webcasting and CCTV surveillance.
Vote counting will commence on November 23 in designated centers across constituencies. The CEO emphasized the provision of voter-friendly amenities, including drinking water, waiting areas, and accessible toilets at polling stations. Special arrangements have also been made for polling staff’s comfort and safety.
Urging citizens to participate in the democratic process, Sibin C appealed to voters to exercise their right without fear or inducement, ensuring robust voter turnout.
