Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday alleged fake caste certificates being created within the AAP government, accusing the ruling party of looting reservation benefits meant for Dalits and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry.

Sachdeva pointed out that for a long time, reports were coming in about the easy availability of fake caste certificates and Aadhaar cards in Delhi, particularly from West Delhi. “An internal team of lawyers was set up to investigate these claims. The investigation first addressed complaints from the Dwarka constituency and revealed eight fake caste certificates issued by the Tehsildar’s office. Seven of these certificates were based on fake Aadhaar cards,” he claimed, adding that as seen in other parts of Delhi, machines to create Aadhaar cards have been set up in MLAs’ offices in Dwarka under their pressure.

“The fake Aadhaar cards that formed the basis for these caste certificates may have been created in these offices,” he said, adding that the BJP investigation revealed that most of the eight fake certificate holders had used them to secure jobs, educational opportunities, and other benefits, which is inconceivable without political protection.

The Delhi BJP chief claimed that within a short time, eight fake caste certificates were issued by the Tehsildar’s office in Dwarka, something unlikely without political backing. He emphasized that it is impossible for any Tehsildar to repeatedly issue fake caste certificates without the knowledge of the MLA and government, making a CBI investigation into this entire scam indispensable.

“If this level of fraud occurred within a single constituency in such a short time, people should consider how much exploitation of Dalit caste certificates might have occurred across all 70 constituencies during Arvind Kejriwal’s decade-long rule,” he alleged, accusing Kejriwal’s AAP government of deceiving all sections of society, underscoring the urgency of an investigation.

Meanwhile, the AAP government hit back at the allegations, stating that all these caste certificates are produced at the SDM offices which are under the Revenue Department. “It is only the Lieutenant Governor (LG) who is deciding who will be the SDM, who will be the ADM and who will be the DM. There is no consultation at all with the elected government so much so that they don't even send the file related to the appointment or posting of SDMs, ADMs and DMs in these offices,” the party said in a statement.
