Halma tradition in Bhil community is most successful in achieving sustainable development - Professor Deepak Kumar Verma on the second day of the two-day national seminar on the cultural heritage of tribes for sustainable development, various scholars read their research papers in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and Indian Council of Social Science Research New Delhi.
The technical session was presided over by Sanjay Prasad, State Election Commissioner of Gujarat. Professor RK Mohti, Mizoram University, while reading his research note, said that there is continuity and change in the marriage system among the tribes.Professor Joshi told about the efforts and success of Adivasi Ekta Parishad Gujarat for increasing social consciousness.
Professor Tripathi discussed the migration happening among the tribes of Orissa and its negative impact on the culture and Jitendra Basna tried to explain the cultural life of Bhil tribes by discussing the folk songs and proverbs prevalent in them.
Devnath, who came from the Forest Management Institute of Bhopal, threw light on the importance and challenges of the indigenous knowledge available in the tribes of Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Professor Veer Pal Singh, who came from the National Law University, Bhopal, underlined the dance music art, religious beliefs, agricultural methods, language etc prevalent among the tribes as cultural heritage and highlighted its importance in the present times.
Chief guest of the closing ceremony, Professor Deepak Kumar Verma, Chairman SC ST and OBC Development, Dean Dr Ambedkar School of Thought and Philosophy and Director Dr BR Ambedkar Social Sciences University Mhow said in his address.Indian tribal cultural heritage is most relevant and important for the entire world to achieve Sustainable Development Goals 2030.Specially mentioning the institutions, organizations and customs of the Bhil tribe, he said that the Halma tradition in the Bhil community is most successful in achieving the characteristics of sustainable development.
