Police announces reward of Rs 30k on accused in RGPV case

City police announced a reward of Rs 30,000 on the absconding accused in the corruption case in Rajiv Gandhi Technological University.

In the case the then Vice Chancellor Sunil Kumar Gupta  of D 29,  74 Bungalow Police Station, TT Nagar Bhopal,  Professor Rakesh Kumar Rajput, father Banshidhar, resident of BP 01 Lakepearl Garden Airport Road, Lalghati. Bhopal and Rishikesh Verma were booked under sections 420,467,468, 120(B), 409 IPC and 7,13(1)(A),13(2) Corruption Act and ( Amended Act 2018) is being registered and discussed.

 In the case, Section 82, 83 of S.P.C. was filed in the court to attach the property of the absconding accused. An application has been submitted and in the case other accused Kumar Mayank, Ramkumar Raghuvanshi, Sunil Raghuvanshi have been arrested and Rs 6,60,000 from Kumar Mayank , Rs 15,68,348 in SBI account, Rs 94,492 Jeevan Finance Bank, Rs 1,04,000 Axis Bank, Rs 34,71,375 in RBL Bank have been freezed.

Ramkumar and Sunil Raghuvanshi are under police custody, and to search for the three absconding accused in the case, three teams have been formed and raids are being conducted at the possible hideouts of the accused. In this regard, a complaint has been lodged by the Commissioner of Police, City Police, Bhopal against the three absconding accused. A reward of Rs 30,000 has been announced.

After collecting information about the movable and immovable assets of the main accused, former Vice Chancellor Sunil Gupta, Registrar Rakesh Singh Rajput and Finance Controller Hrishikesh Verma, a report was sent to the Honorable Court to cook the assets.

A reward of Rs 30000 was announced by the Police Commissioner, Bhopal for the arrest of the accused named in the case.

A raid was conducted at the residence of accused Sunil Gupta, Rakesh Singh Rajput and Hrishikesh Verma.

When the then Access Back Manager Ramkumar Raghuvanshi was found involved in the case, he was arrested on 06-04-2024 and taken on police remand.

Due to the involvement of Dalit Sangh Suhagpur member Sunil Raghuvanshi in the case, he was arrested on 06-04-2024 and taken on police remand till 09-04-2024.

Due to the absconding accused Sunil Kumar Gupta, former Vice Chancellor and Rakesh Singh Rajput, former Registrar of RGPV, absconding in the case, lookout notices were issued against them by correspondence from New Delhi.

Correspondence was sent to the Bureau of Immigration, New Delhi for information about the foreign trips done by the accused Sunil Gupta and Rakesh Rajput in the past and their present status and through the Additional Director General of Police, Crime Investigation Department, correspondence was also sent to Interpol and Bureau of Immigration.

A team has been deployed under the leadership of ACP Sujit Tiwari to collect CCTV footage of the accused while they were absconding from Bhopal and get information about back account UPI transactions.

The family members (wife and children) of accused Sunil Gupta and Rakesh Rajput are being interrogated by police station in-charge Chunabhatti Mrs. Bhupendra Kaur Sandhu.

Information about mobile numbers, activities etc. of the accused and their family members is being collected through Qaim branch and the accused are being traced.

Action is being taken by ACP Bairagarh Anil Shukla to block and freeze all the bank accounts and transactions of the absconding accused, till date Rs 6,60,000 in cash and Rs 52,33,252 have been seized.
