Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) Dehradun hostel here on Tuesday. The institute’s new hostel was recently constructed at a cost of Rs 11.5 crore by the Central Public Works Department. The hostel building is four-storeyed, has 76 rooms and can accommodate 228 trainees. Additionally the hostel has two recreational halls and a mess. The mess is capable of serving quality food to 100 trainees at a time. Each room is furnished with basic furniture, and the hostel has clean drinking water, separate toilet for Divyang trainees and 24/7 CCTV surveillance for security.
The NSTI was established in 1982. Presently the institute offers training in Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS), Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) and Advanced Diploma in Information Technology (ADIT) with a total capacity of 350 trainees. The institute also conducts short term courses in electronics, IT/computer and electrical fields for engineering trainees from premium organisations like ISRO, Naval Dockyard Mumbai, Indian Ordnance Factories, Bharat Petroleum, BHEL and others.
Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Dharampur MLA Vinod Chamoli, Skill Development and Employment secretary Vijay Kumar Yadav, Directorate General of Training deputy director general Ishwar Singh and the regional director of NSTI Dehradun Ravi Chilukoti were among those present on the occasion.
