Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has carved a unique identity in the nation by achieving the goals set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to realize the vision of Swachh Bharat through the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Recognizing cleanliness as a top priority, Indore has emerged as a national example in raising awareness about cleanliness. The city holds the record of being the cleanest in India for seven consecutive years and has also become the first "water plus" city in the country. Additionally, Bhopal has earned the title of the cleanest capital in India.
Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has once again joined with full passion in the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign launched on 17 September, the birthday of Prime Minister Modi. Along with ministers, public representatives, officers, employees, social workers and social organisations, citizens are also playing a key role towards cleanliness in urban and rural areas. To boost the morale of the people of the state and our Safai Mitras, President Smt. Droupadi Murmu also interacted with them during her Ujjain visit and felicitated them and gave the message of cleanliness by sweeping in the Sri Mahakal Lok premises. This is a matter of pride for Madhya Pradesh.
Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh is successfully meeting all cleanliness standards. The state government has implemented a ban on single-use plastics and prohibited the open sale of meat and fish. To further promote zero waste initiatives, urban bodies are organizing zero waste events. Central composting and material recovery units have been established in 401 urban areas to process dry and wet waste, producing compost from the organic materials. Additionally, 324 cities in the state have been declared Safai Mitra safe cities, and regular training sessions are being conducted to improve the efficiency and skills of Safai Mitras.
The Chief Minister said that recently a waste-to-energy plant has been set up in Rewa Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs. 158 crore 67 lakh. 340 tonnes of waste is being treated daily from this plant. Along with this, 6 megawatt electricity is also being generated in a day. More than seven thousand garbage collection vehicles are collecting garbage from door to door every day. All the villages of the state are ODF and so far 78 lakh 31 thousand individual toilets and more than 16 thousand 900 community sanitation complexes have been constructed. More than 44 thousand villages of the state have been made solid waste management, more than 48 thousand villages have been made liquid waste management and more than 41 thousand villages have been made ODF Plus model.
In the Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan started from 17 September in the state, awareness about cleanliness is being raised in urban and rural areas. At every level, citizens are being motivated along with taking cleanliness pledge. Ministers and public representatives are also engaged in cleaning works in their respective areas to encourage Swachhata Mitras by felicitating them and collaborating with them in cleanliness initiatives.
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla gave the message of cleanliness by offering Shramdaan on Bodabagh Road from Sainik Canteen to Neem Chouraha in Rewa Municipal Corporation area and felicitated Safai Mitras. Public awareness towards cleanliness was raised among the citizens by organising programmes focused on hygienic behavior in government and private schools of Rewa.
Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar cleaned the Laxman Talaiya area and Moni Baba Ashram of Gwalior city by sweeping and also felicitated Safai Mitras by giving them cash prizes.
