Withdrawal of monsoon has started in the state on Wednesday, the Meteorological Department announced the withdrawal of monsoon from Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Shivpuri and Sheopur.
Monsoon withdrawal in some districts of Ujjain division on Thursday and later it will withdraw from Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar divisions.
Senior scientist said that on October 4, a low pressure area is becoming active in the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, the departure from the eastern part of the state will be delayed.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be drizzle and thunderstorms in Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa and Burhanpur in the next 24 hours i.e. on Thursday. There will be bright sunshine in the rest of the districts of the state including Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur.
Monsoon entered MP on June 21. Monsoon came via Jabalpur division. On 28 June, the monsoon reached Gwalior-Chambal division last, but it was the first to depart from here. Monsoon remained active here for about 95 days.
The rainy season has stopped in the state for 3 days. With the departure of monsoon from Gwalior and Chambal division on Wednesday, the effect of heat increased in many districts of the state. The mercury reached 36.6 degrees in Gwalior and Khajuraho and 36 degrees Celsius in Tikamgarh. The mercury crossed 35 degrees in Bhopal, Guna, Ratlam, Ujjain, Damoh, Jabalpur, Rewa. 34 degrees Celsius was recorded in Indore.
According to the Meteorological Department, the days will be hot and nights will be cold till the onset of winter. Cold will increase at night from October 20.
Jabalpur division has been at the forefront in terms of monsoon rain this year. Mandla district received the highest rainfall. More than 60.6 inches of rainfall has been recorded, 56.8 inches of rainfall has been recorded in Seoni. Sheopur, Niwari and Rajgarh have received more than 52 inches of rain.
The top-10 districts with the highest rainfall include Bhopal, Sagar, Alirajpur, Dindori and Chhindwara. However, there has been no rain anywhere for the last 2 days.
The rainy season may have stopped in the state, but the inflow of water in the dams and ponds continues. This season, 200 out of about 250 dams in the state have been full. There are many dams including Bargi, Banganga, Omkareshwar, Indira Sagar, Tawa, Kaliyasot, Kerwa, Bhadbhada, whose gates have been opened 6 to 10 times or more in the season.
