A delegation of the State Government of Mexico’s Guanajuato led by the Ambassador of Mexico in India on Thursday met the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Mayor Dr. Shelly Oberoi at Civic Centre in New Delhi.
The delegation of Guanajuato Government was led by the Ambassador of Mexico in India Federico Salas Lotfe and General Coordinator of Social Communication of Guanajuato (virtual elected representative) Alan Sahir Marquez Becerra who met Oberoi at her chamber at the Civic Centre.
The delegation showed keen interest in knowing how the local body is maintaining parks, tree plantation, development and management and how the use of technology is being implemented in government services. They also discussed how the tourism between India and Mexico can be made easier.
The MCD mayor informed the delegation about the role of MCD in the city. She said that the civic body has the primary responsibility to maintain the cleanliness of the city, provide primary education, primary health services to citizens, maintenance of more the 1000 parks and other such work.
She also told the delegation that MCD is making more rigorous efforts in solid waste management to make city cleaner and greener while stating that the tourism and IT comes under the state government and therefore MCD has nothing much to comment on these proposals.
The Mayor and delegation assured each other of mutual co-operation between the two cities i.e. Delhi and Guanajuato in the field of development of infrastructure and civic services.
