Inspecting the city ghats for Chhath Puja preparations, Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai and MLA Bhagwandas Sabnani reviewed arrangements at Sheetaldas Ki Bagiya, Khatlapura, Prempura, 5 Number Talab, and other lakefront ghats.
Following the inspection, Mayor Rai issued directives for an enhancement in preparations and instructed a special focus on cleanliness, electricity supply, safety measures, cleaning of water sources, and other necessary arrangements at all the Chhath Puja venues.
Rai also inspected the Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Barkheda, BHEL Barkheda (Surajkund Ghat), Saryu Sarovar Park, and Hathai Kheda, and instructed that changing rooms be set up at the ghats for the festival.
The Mayor and Sabnani also painted the stairs of the ghats and oversaw the cleaning of the ponds.
The inspection was attended by Additional Commissioners Devendra Singh Chauhan, Ranveer Singh, Harshit Tiwari, Mayor’s Council members Ravindra Yati, Councillors and Zone Presidents Neeraj Singh and Rajesh Choukse, Councillors Pappu Vilas, Guddu Chauhan, Former Councillor Asharam Sharma, Chief Engineer Waterworks Udit Garg, Chief Engineer Sewage Subodh Jain, In-charge Executive Engineer Lake Conservation Cell Pramod Malviya, and other Corporation officials.
Following the inspection, the Mayor directed all concerned officials to ensure timely and effective arrangements for cleanliness, water source cleaning, and other necessary services across all the ghats.
She said that drinking water facilities, adequate lighting, security measures, diver arrangements, and necessary repairs, including painting, be completed before the festival. Additionally, Rai also directed that mobile toilets be arranged at Hathai Kheda Ghat.
