Mauritius set to host prestigious Vishwarang Festival from Aug 7 to 9

The renowned Vishwarang festival is poised to celebrate its 6th edition in the vibrant landscape of Mauritius, from August 7 to 9, 2024.

This significant cultural event is organized collaboratively by the World Hindi Secretariat, Mauritius, and Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, aiming to honor and promote the global Hindi language, literature, art, and culture.Mr. Santosh Choubey, Director of Vishwarang, expressed his elation, stating, "Vishwarang 2024 in Mauritius will be a landmark event that brings together the global Hindi community to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of Hindi language, literature, art, and culture.

We are honored to collaborate with esteemed organizations and look forward to inspiring discussions, performances, and cultural exchanges. We inaugurated the International Hindi Centre at Rabindranath Tagore University during Vishwarang 2023. This year, we will focus on how Hindi can become a global language, create employment opportunities, and introduce innovative teaching methods.

Additionally, we will present the Vishwarang Bhasha Samman 2024 to honor those who have significantly contributed to the Hindi language."Vishwarang 2024 is set to witness the participation of over 200 writers, artists, and educationists from more than 30 countries.

The festival’s opening ceremony will be graced by the President of Mauritius, the Prime Minister of Mauritius, and the Deputy Prime Minister. This grand event is supported by distinguished organizations, including the Tagore International Hindi Center (India), Tagore World Art and Culture Center (India), Mahatma Gandhi Institute (Mauritius), Rabindranath Tagore Institute (Mauritius), Hindi Speaking Union (Mauritius), Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation, and Vanmali Srijan Peeth (India).The festival will commence with an inaugural ceremony at the World Hindi Secretariat in Mauritius on August 7, 2024.

The ceremony will feature a vibrant Shobha Yatra, followed by the lighting of the lamp and the national anthems of Mauritius and India. Dr. Madhouree Ramdharee, Secretary General of the World Hindi Secretariat, will deliver a welcome address. The ceremony will also include a screening of a Vishwarang film, an address by Santosh Choubey, Director Vishwarang, Dr. Siddharth Chaturvedi, Co-director Vishwarang, launch of the global Hindi report "Vishwa mein Hindi" and the Pravasi Hindi Sahitya of eleven countries.

The keynote address will be delivered by The Honorable Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mauritius.

Following the inaugural ceremony, the festival will host a plethora of academic sessions, cultural presentations, and international poetic recitals. Highlights include sessions on global literary consciousness, medieval history, and the dimensions of Bhojpuri language and literature, featuring eminent speakers like Pawan Verma, Leeladhar Mandloi, Jitendra Shrivastava, Badri Narayan, Nand Kishore Acharya, and Ashok Bhomik.

On August 8, 2024, the festival will delve into discussions on the global horizon of Hindi and mass communication media, AI and Hindi language - opportunities and challenges, Hindi in migrant countries, and the role of technology in Hindi teaching, with insights from distinguished speakers such as Om Thanvi, Priyadarshan, Rama Sharma, Shalini Verma, and Balendu Dadhich.
