Third year MANIT student who committed suicide was in depression due to ragging after admission and recently he was under pressure of placements in the college, this reveltions were made during the investigation.
Aditya Sohane committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at his hostel room at MANIT on Sunday.
The body was handed over to the family after the postmortem on Monday. Student Aditya Sohne's father is an accounts officer in PWD in Datia.
He said that Aditya was ragged after admission, since then he was disturbed. These days he was worried about campus placement. He last contacted on video call on September 21 in the family group.
There was no change in his behavior then. He did not make any kind of call or message before suicide.
The police is investigating the concrete reasons for the suicide.
SHO Nirupa Pandey said that Aditya's fellow students have expressed ignorance over the reason for the suicide. The spot was inspected by the FSL team. Suicide note has not been found. Detailed statements of the family could not be recorded either.
Aditya was a third year student. Family members said that he was worried about campus placement.
Aditya's cousin said that he was studying in Computer Science third year and lived in hostel number-5. He was the only son of the family. He has a sister. Fellow students have told that he was worried about campus placement.
We don't think that he would have taken such a big step just because of this. Because he was going to come to the campus again. In the initial days after admission, he had talked about ragging. He used to get stressed due to this too. Many times he also informed us about the campus environment getting bad.
Deceased's father B.N Sohne reached the mortuary on Monday morning. As soon as the mortuary was opened at 10:30 in the morning, he was shown the body of his son.
He said that he last spoke to his son on the night of September 21. He seemed normal then. He did not mention any problem. He was always at the top in studies. He did not fail in any subject in the last three years.
The police and FSL team have inspected Aditya's room. At present, the police have not found any suicide note. The police have seized his mobile phone and laptop for investigation.
