Delhi Lt Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved the continuation and renewal of contract of 461 Part Time Vocational Teachers (PTVTs) in government and government-aided of Delhi for the academic year 2024-25.
The move will help in overcoming the shortage of vocational teachers for teaching subjects relating to NSQF (National Skill Quality Framework) which was introduced by the CBSE In place of vocational stream.
The NSQF is a nationally integrated education and competency-based skill and quality assurance framework that provide for multiple pathways, horizontal as well as vertical, including vocational education, vocational training, general education and technical education, thus linking one level of learning to another higher level. It was notified on 27thDecember 2013.
The NSQF enable a person to acquire desired competency levels, transit to the job market and at an opportune time, return for acquiring additional skills to further upgrade their competencies.
PTVTs are engaged in providing education relating to various NSQF courses which includes Fashion Studies, Stenography (English and Hindi), Shorthand, Beauty and Wellness, Web Application, Information and Technology, Accountancy and Auditing, Office Procedures and Practices, Typography & Computer Application, Insurance, Library and Information Science, Textile Design, Banking, Horticulture, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Electronics Technology and Automotive.
While the services of 449 (437 Qualified and 12 Non-Qualified) PTVTs have been continued in Delhi Government Schools for the period 01.04.2024 to 31.03.2025, the LG has given his nod for the renewal of contract of 03 PTVTs engaged in teaching Food Productionin three (03) schools for the duration of 01.03.2024 to 28.02.2025.
Further, services of 09 PTVTs in 04 Government aided Senior Secondary Schools engaged in providing education relating to Fashion Studies, Stenography (English and Hindi), Beauty and Wellness, Web Application, Information and Technology and Accountancy & Auditinghave been continued for the academic session 2023-25.
The PTVTs are staff appointed on a contingent basis and they were engaged on contract basis and their services are dispensed with on attaining the age of 60 years. Their continuation is renewed every year with the approval of the LG.
