Himachal CM flags off Inner Wheel car rally from Shimla
Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday flagged off the car rally organized by Inner Wheel District 308 to mark 100 years of establishment of the Inner Wheel Club from OakOver, Shimla. This rally will conclude in New Delhi. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Inner Wheel Club was fulfilling its social responsibilities very well. While lauding its efforts, he said that the club has been organizing various activities for the welfare of the needy sections of society. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Anirudh Singh, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan, OSD to the Chief Minister, Gopal Sharma and Ritesh Kaprate, District Chairperson of Inner Wheel Club, Seema Kapoor, Officer, Neha Sharma and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Haryana CM releases book on the life and ideology of Dr BR Ambedkar
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday released the book titled ‘Dr. B.R. Ambedkar: Life and Thought’ by Dr. Krishna Gopal, at his residence Sant Kabir Kutir here in Chandigarh. Khattar, who is also the Chairman of Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Academy, said that the thoughts of saints and great personalities have always advocated social harmony and humanism since ancient times. Such great personalities should not be associated with any particular group or community. Acknowledging the same, the state government has initiated the Sant-Mahapurush Samman evam Vichar Prachar Prasar Yojana, celebrating the birth anniversaries and commemoration days of great personalities at the government level, so that the younger generation can draw inspiration for the welfare of society from the life stories of these great saints and personalities, said Khattar. The book has been published by Haryana Sahitya and Sanskriti Academy.
Himachal CM to chair meeting on MLA priority for budget 2024-25
Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will chair a meeting with Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) regarding their priority for the development-related schemes for the upcoming budget 2024-25. The two-day meeting will be held on 29th and 30th January at the conference hall in Armsdale phase-3 of the Secretariat. The meeting would be held in two sessions, morning 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and evening 2 pm to 5 pm. At the morning session on January 29, the Chief Minister would listen to the suggestions and priorities of the MLA from districts Una, Hamirpur and Solan. During the evening session, the MLA from districts Sirmaur, Chamba, Bilaspur and Lahaul & Spiti would participate in the meeting. At the morning session on January 30, the MLA from districts Kangra, Kinnaur and Kullu would be present in the meeting. During the evening session, the MLA from districts Shimla and Mandi would participate in the meeting to present their suggestions and priorities to the Chief Minister.
Hry CM announces a change in the timing of the electricity supply to tube wells
Chandigarh: Farmers in Haryana will now be able to irrigate their fields during the daytime as well after the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar directed the officers concerned to change the timing of the electricity supply at tube wells. Now farmers will get electricity in 2 shifts during the day. The decision has been taken due to extreme weather conditions. With the change in timings, the farmers will now be able to irrigate their fields without facing any problems caused due to severe cold conditions. As per the directions of the Chief Minister, the power department will now ensure uninterrupted power supply to the farmers from 5 am to 1 pm and from 10 am to 6 pm. For the last few days, farmers from across the state has been urging the government about the problems being faced by them due to weather conditions, acknowledging the same the Chief Minister took this decision, a statement said.
Cold conditions continue in Punjab and Haryana fog in several places
Chandigarh: Cold weather conditions continued unabated in Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday, with the morning fog again reducing visibility levels at several places. Gurdaspur in Punjab and Narnaul in Haryana reeled from the biting chill, recording minimum temperatures of 6 degrees Celsius each, the Met office said in a weather report. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a night temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius, Bathinda, Pathankot and Patiala at 7 degrees each and Ludhiana at 7.6 degrees. Chandigarh recorded a low of 8.2 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, the minimum temperature in Ambala was at 6.7 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees in Karnal and Bhiwani each. Meanwhile, morning fog reduced visibility levels at several places in the two states. During the past few days, day temperatures in the region have witnessed a sharp decrease, hovering a few notches below normal.
MANSA BAGS FIRST SPOT IN ENSURING SUCCESS TO KHARIF MARKETING SEASON 2023-24
Chandigarh: Commending the entire department for braving numerous challenges and ensuring a successful Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2023-24, Punjab Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Tuesday said that this is the result of the Department staff working hard day and night and he expressed confidence that this positive trend would continue in KMS 2024-25 also. Presiding over a meeting of the department to review the Kharif Marketing Season 2023-24, the Minister said the department is closely connected with the farming sector which is the backbone of the agrarian economy of Punjab. "The farmers just want two things, timely lifting of their crops and prompt payments," said the Minister adding that it is a matter of pride that the department has fulfilled the expectations of the farmers in this respect. The Minister awarded the three Districts for showing exemplary performance in ensuring a successful Kharif Procurement Season 2023-24. The District Food Supply Controller (DFSC) Pathankot Gurinder Singh bagged the 3rd prize. The DFSC Fazilka, Himanshu got the 2nd prize while the DFSC Mansa, Mandeep Singh won the top honour.
JAURAMAJRA WARNS OF STERN ACTION AGAINST OFFICIALS INVOLVED IN ILLEGAL MINING
Chandigarh: Stating that illegal mining will not be tolerated under any circumstances, Punjab Water Resources, Mining & Geology and Soil and Water Conservation Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra on Tuesday categorically said that stern action will be initiated against the officials involved in illegal mining and those are not collecting royalties. During a meeting with MLAs from Majha and officials from the water resources, mining & geology and soil & water conservation departments in Amritsar, the Cabinet Minister said that royalties of soil being used for major projects should be ensured to be deposited in the government treasury. He highlighted that despite the construction of hundreds of kilometers of national highways in the state; their actual royalties have not been collected and asked officials for vigilance and proper attention to these projects. In a firm tone, he warned of departmental action against any officer showing negligence in addressing issues related to illegal mining and royalty. Regarding canal and drain cleaning, the Cabinet Minister said that the government has acquired ten large machines for the task. He said that if the need arises, additional machinery will be purchased to complete the work. He said that earlier the governments used to get this work done by outsourcing but now by purchasing the machines, 60 percent of the cost has been saved while amplifying the efficiency of the work.
