Gurvinder Singh Sethi, the soft-spoken and leader of the Sikh BJP in Jharkhand, passed away due to a heart attack in Pune on Tuesday. His untimely demise has sent shockwaves of grief across the Sikh communities in Jharkhand and Bihar. Particularly in Ranchi and Jamshedpur, Sethi’s supporters, who had hoped to see him represent the Sikh voice in the Vidhan Sabha or Rajya Sabha, are mourning the loss of a leader they deeply admired.

Sethi was serving as a member of the Jharkhand BJP state working committee at the time of his passing. He had previously held the position of vice-chairman of the Minority Commission during the tenures of Chief Ministers Arjun Munda and Raghubar Das. In this role, he was instrumental in advocating for minority rights and development.

A year ago, Sethi represented Jharkhand on the Railway Advisory Board. He was proactive in inspecting passenger facilities at various railway stations, identifying deficiencies, and bringing them to the attention of the Ministry of Railways. His work demonstrated his commitment to improving public amenities and holding authorities accountable.

The news of Sethi’s passing has left many in disbelief. Prominent Sikh leaders, including Satbir Singh Somu, Chanchal Bhatia, Ravindra Singh Rinku, and Gurmukh Singh Mukhe, patron of the Jharkhand Sikh Coordination Committee, have expressed deep sorrow over his death.

“It is hard to accept that Gurvinder Singh Sethi is no longer with us. His contribution to the Sikh community and public welfare was unparalleled,” said one of his close associates.

“ Gurvinder Singh Sethi’s passing marks the end of a remarkable journey of public service and leadership. His efforts to elevate the Sikh community’s voice in Jharkhand and beyond will be remembered as a testament to his dedication and vision. The wave of mourning that has swept through Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and other parts of the region reflects the profound impact he had on the lives of many,” said Somu.
