In view of the festive season, popular picnic destinations such as Dimna Lake, Jubilee Park, Hudco Lake, and Narhwa Dam are under a foolproof security cover to ensure the safety of visitors. The security measures will be in place till January 10, coinciding with the peak picnic season.
A senior police official revealed that all relevant police stations have been directed to implement stringent security arrangements during the New Year celebrations.
“We have consistently deployed armed personnel at attractions like Dimna Lake and Jubilee Park. However, during the picnic season, additional forces will be stationed at these locations to provide enhanced safety for visitors, particularly those coming from outside the state. This ensures a secure environment for everyone,” the official stated.
He elaborated that the security plan includes the deployment of women police officers alongside male personnel to address any potential security concerns. These teams will operate under continuous monitoring by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the respective areas.
In addition to securing picnic spots, the authorities have imposed restrictions on triple-riding, drunk driving, and the use of pressure horns by bikers during the festive period. Traffic police and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) comprising private security guards from Panther Security and police personnel will patrol to maintain public order.
“We have mobilized 200 additional police officers, including women personnel, at key picnic spots and strategic locations leading to them. If required, these arrangements may extend beyond January 10,” the official added.
To prevent traffic congestion on routes leading to Jubilee Park and Dimna Lake, towing vehicles will be on standby. Traffic police will ensure smooth vehicular movement, enabling picnickers to reach their destinations without delays.
Every year, thousands of visitors flock to the scenic picnic spots in and around Jamshedpur during the year-end festivities. Dimna Lake, in particular, attracts a significant number of tourists from neighboring Bengal, eager to enjoy its serene beauty.
Currently, two sections of armed police and a section of women police are stationed at Jubilee Park. Similarly, two sections of armed police are deployed at Dimna Lake, supplemented by numerous private security guards. These measures will be intensified to accommodate the seasonal influx of visitors.
Despite the enhanced security, visitor turnout at Jubilee Park may see a dip this year due to the introduction of a new system that has yet to garner widespread acceptance among revelers. Authorities have urged visitors to adhere to the guidelines and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure a safe and enjoyable festive season for all.
By implementing comprehensive security measures, the city aims to uphold its reputation as a safe and family-friendly destination for year-end celebrations.
