Punjab Govt releases Rs 13.16 cr for BC, EWS under Ashirwad Scheme

Chandigarh: Punjab Government released an amount of Rs 13.16 crore under the Ashirwad scheme for the backward classes and economically weaker sections during the current year. Sharing the information, the Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Tuesday said that under the Ashirwad scheme, an amount of Rs 13.16 crore has been released covering 2581 beneficiaries belonging to BC and EWS. Under the Ashirwad scheme, financial assistance of up to Rs 51,000 is given by the state Government for the marriage of girls belonging to low-income families in the state.

 

Punjab Govt releases Rs 22.33-cr for honorarium to Anganwadi Workers

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has released Rs 22.33 crore to provide honorariums to Anganwadi workers and helpers for community-based events conducted by them. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Tuesday said that during the current financial year 2024-25, Rs 22.33 crore has been allocated for honouring Anganwadi workers and helpers for community-based events conducted for year 2021-22, 2022-23, and up to September 30, 2024. Community-based activities are conducted on the 14th and 28th of every month in Anganwadi centers across the state, like ceremonies for Goad Bharai of pregnant mothers and for distributing SNP to lactating women. Anganwadi workers receive an honorarium of Rs 500 per activity, while helpers receive Rs 250.

 

Punjab to send 72 primary school teachers to Finland for training

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has decided to send 72 government primary school teachers to the University of Turku in Finland for a three-week international training program. Informing this, School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Tuesday said that this initiative aims to provide teachers with world-class training, enhancing their teaching skills and knowledge. Since February 2023, 198 principals and education administrators have been trained in Singapore, and 100 headmasters have received training in Leadership, School Management, and Education Department at IIM Ahmedabad. Eligible primary school teachers can apply online starting September 24, and the selection process will consider feedback from current and former students of the applicants.
