Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a high-energy rally at Birsanagar, where he made strong remarks about the current state government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises and fostering corruption. Sarma, speaking before a large crowd, termed the upcoming elections as a crucial battle for the state’s future, particularly focusing on the issues of land, security, and livelihoods.
In his speech, Sarma expressed concern over the demographic shifts in areas like Pakur and Sahibganj, questioning the current government's lack of action on these critical matters. “Why should the people vote for a government that has not kept its promises?” Sarma asked, referring to the unfulfilled promise of providing five lakh jobs to the people of Jharkhand.
Sarma also raised the controversial issue of the recovery of Rs 25 crore from the residence of Alamgir Alam, a prominent local politician. He pointed out that if such a massive sum were found at his own house, he would not even receive an election ticket from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yet, he noted, despite this alleged corruption, Alam had been given an election ticket by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Sarma's remarks underscored his accusations of corruption within the ruling government.
Further intensifying his rhetoric, Sarma warned that voting for Congress would risk destroying the future of the next generation. He urged voters to reject the current regime in favor of change.
Concluding his address, Sarma highlighted the BJP’s mission for the elections, emphasizing the slogan ‘Maati, Beti, Roti’ (land, daughter, and food), a phrase symbolizing the protection of Jharkhand’s land, cultural identity, and economic security. “We must fight to protect our Maati, Beti, Roti, and save our culture and society,” Sarma declared.
