House passes Rs 11,697.45 crore second supplementary budget

Friday, 13 December 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

On the last day of the special session of the Assembly, the supplementary budget was passed by voice vote. Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore also explained the reason for bringing the supplementary budget in the House. Responding to the questions of the opposition, he said that Rs 1,697 crore has not been surrendered. To save the amount from surrender by the departments which could not spend, the government used the Mainiya Samman Yojana and free electricity bill. Previous governments have also been doing this. This is an example of better management.

When the opposition raised questions on the Mainiya Samman Yojana, he said that now women will not have to beg to buy medicines. The money will reach the government treasury in the form of tax revenue through the market. The BJP government in Jharkhand was in power for a total of 13 years and 62 days. Nothing was done to strengthen the rural economy then. The BJP did not have any slogan of development. Only infiltration was being talked about.

Earlier, on Wednesday Kishore tabled the second supplementary budget of Rs 11,697.45 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal. Highlighting the state's focus on social welfare, the women, child development, and social security department stands to receive the highest allocation of Rs 6,390.55 crore. This reflects the government's commitment to addressing key societal needs.

The highest provision of Rs 6390.55 crore has been made for the Women and Child Development Department, which runs the Maiyaan Samman Yojana.

Under the scheme, the Hemant Soren government has decided to give an honorarium of Rs 2500 to every woman monthly in the 18-50 age group.

The Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana provides financial assistance of Rs 1000/- per month to women beneficiaries. The amount will be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-linked bank account by the 15th of every month. Annually, Rs 12,000 will be deposited in the bank accounts of all qualified women through the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme.

Many women beneficiaries are waiting for the fifth instalment of the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana, which is expected to be disbursed in mid-December. Launched in August this year, the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana aims to enhance financial security and well-being of women across the state.

Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore presented a supplementary budget of Rs 11697.45 crore for 2024-25 after Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar addressed the State Assembly.

The energy department got the second highest outlay of Rs 2,577.92 crore, followed by home, jail and disaster management department at Rs 445.96 crore and school education and literacy department to get Rs 574.69crore.
