Chhattisgarh Minister of Health Shyam Bihari Jaiswal on Monday suspended Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) Dean K.K. Sahare and Medical Superintendent S.K. Nayak for financial irregularities and dereliction of duty.
He announced their suspension at a review meeting of doctors in CIMS with senior officials of the Health Department.
Earlier, he inspected the construction site of the Multi-Specialty Hospital building in Koni, Bilaspur. This under-construction hospital building is an extension of the CIMS facility.
He directed the officials concerned to ensure completion of all the construction, procurement and recruitment tasks by October 31 so that the hospital can be inaugurated during the State Foundation Week.
Jaiswal thoroughly reviewed the hospital building and the facilities that have been made available so far.
The hospital is being constructed with joint financial aid from the Central and state governments at a cost of Rs 200 crore.
The extended hospital building will house six specialist departments—nephrology, urology, cardiology, CTVS (Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery), neurology and neurosurgery.
Jaiswal reviewed the construction progress of the nearby Cancer Institute building and directed that it be completed by March.
He also said that a new CIMS building will be built in the same complex, for which the state government had approved Rs 700 crore.
