Government to deal strictly with black marketeers: CM

Sunday, 29 September 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has stated that when the demand for fertilizers increases, there is a possibility of black marketing, illegal hoarding, and the production of Fake fertilizers. He emphasized increasing inspections and checks with the help of the police. Strict action should be taken against those involved in black marketing, adulteration, misbranding, and the sale of fake fertilizers.

Continuous monitoring should be ensured on the movement of fertilizers from one district to another to control illegal transportation. Action should also be taken against black marketeers and illegal traders under the National Security Act (NSA), as per regulations. Chief Minister Yadav gave these instructions during a video conference from the Chief Minister's residence on Saturday, where he discussed soybean procurement, fertilizer availability, and distribution with district collectors and commissioners.

Yadav assured that there is an adequate supply of fertilizers in the state for Kharif 2024-25. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving soybean procurement in Madhya Pradesh under the Price Support Scheme and instructed officials to make appropriate arrangements for procurement. The Chief Minister also emphasized promoting the use of NPK and liquid nano urea instead of DAP, to reduce the nation's dependency on other countries. Dr. Yadav expressed satisfaction over the increased use of NPK fertilizers in Kharif 2024, reaching 45 percentage, up from only 26 percentage in 2023-24. He also directed the district collectors to ensure that the revenue department, in collaboration with public representatives, assesses crop damage accurately.

Yadav instructed officials to coordinate with the Agricultural Production Commissioner for necessary actions regarding double-lock storage of fertilizers. He further called for strict action against those involved in the sale, storage, or transportation of substandard fertilizers and seeds. The Chief Minister also directed officials to make solid arrangements for the distribution of fertilizers for Rabi 2024-25, in line with the current Kharif season.

The Chief Minister highlighted that there is also an adequate supply of fertilizers for the upcoming Rabi 2024-25 season and asked district collectors to coordinate with senior officials to ensure smooth distribution without any disruptions. He emphasized promoting natural farming in line with Prime Minister Modi's vision and encouraged farmers to use NPK and liquid nano urea. He also instructed officials to respond to the demand made by Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat for an additional three fertilizer racks in the Malwa region and to open additional sales counters at double-lock centers to streamline fertilizer distribution.

Dr. Yadav mentioned that soybean procurement under the Price Support Scheme should be conducted with sensitivity. He assured that the state government would procure soybean beyond the quantity determined by the central government. The registration of farmers on the e-procurement portal started on 25 September, and the registration process will continue until 20 October. Slot booking for procurement will take place until 21 December. Soybean will be procured from October 25 to December 31, 2024 at 1,400 centers across the state, and changes may be made as necessary.

Payments to farmers will be made online. Soybean procurement will be conducted everywhere except for seven districts: Datia, Bhind, Katni, Mandla, Balaghat, Sidhi, and Singrauli. Proposals from these districts will be considered if submitted.

The meeting was attended by Cooperative Minister Vishwas Sarang, Chief Secretary  Veera Rana, Agricultural Production Commissioner Mohammad Suleman and others.
