Two miscreants robbed gold and silver jewellery and cash from a jewellery shop at Krishna Arcade late in the evening on Tuesday, Bagh sewania police have started investigation.
The miscreants wearing helmets threatened the shopkeeper by showing him a gun. After this, they fled with the silver rakhis, jewellery and cash kept in the shop.
The incident took place in Bagh Sewania police station area at around 10 pm on Tuesday night. This robbery incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed in the shop. In which two accused wearing helmets are seen entering the shop.
They threatened the shopkeeper at gunpoint, took the cash and jewellery kept in the shop. After this, they fled while threatening. The accused stayed in the shop for about 7 minutes.
Police said, 'Manoj Chauhan, a resident of Rachna Nagar, has a shop named SS Jewellers in Krishna Arcade. At around 10 pm, he was preparing to close the shop. During this time, the miscreants entered the shop.
Pointing a gun at Manoj, they said take whatever cash you have.
The police are searching for the robbers on the basis of CCTV footage and the statements of the shopkeeper. Half a dozen suspects present around the time of the incident have been questioned.
It has not been disclosed how much jewellery and how much cash the accused took.
Police said that no list has been submitted to them by the complainant yet. The shopkeeper has said that he will give the list of looted gold and silver jewellery after counting.
However, if sources are to be believed, the accused have fled with more than 500 gm of gold and about one and a half kg of silver. While fleeing, a miscreant attacked Manoj's hand with a knife.
Police have formed 6 teams to search for the accused. This also includes the team of the Crime Branch. Police have made maps of all the possible escape routes of the accused. It has become clear in the investigation so far that the accused have fled towards Mandideep.
The police suspect old criminals active in the border areas of the city. The footage of the accused has also been sent to the police of Raisen, Sehore and Vidisha districts.
