An important event took place today at the conference hall of the Garhwa District Collectorate to mark Constitution Day, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Jamuar. During the programme, all senior officials, heads of departments, and staff members recited the Preamble of the Constitution and pledged to faithfully uphold its rights and duties.
All attendees reiterated their commitment to transforming India into a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic, ensuring justice and providing social, economic, and political rights for all citizens, alongside the freedoms of thought, expression, belief, religion, and worship. They also vowed to foster brotherhood in order to promote human dignity and national unity. This gathering on 26 November 1949 took an oath to adopt, enact, and devote itself to this Constitution.
The Deputy Commissioner remarked that Constitution Day is celebrated every year on 26 November, the date the draft of the Indian Constitution was adopted. Although the Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950, it was initially adopted on 26 November 1949. The government officially recognised 26 November as Constitution Day through a gazette notification on 19 November 2015. The Deputy Commissioner extended his greetings for Constitution Day and encouraged officials and staff to adhere to the rights and duties outlined in the Constitution. The ceremony was also attended by Additional Collector Raj Maheshwaram, District Land Acquisition Officer Sanjay Prasad, District Panchayati Raj Officer Pramesh Kushwaha, as well as other district-level officials and office staff.
