Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has written a letter to CM Hemant Soren. The letter says that in view of the obstacles in road construction, there should be a quick solution to the issues related to land acquisition and forest clearance. Instruct the Chief Secretary of the state to resolve these issues by holding a meeting with all the parties, so that the projects can be completed on time. The Union Minister has especially drawn attention to the Varanasi Kolkata Expressway. It has been said that the work of the Kudu-Udaipura package has not started. The reason for this is the lack of forest clearance and land acquisition. Many projects are stalled due to forest clearance, compensation and land acquisition.
The work of 15 highway projects in Jharkhand is being affected due to forest clearance. The cost of all these projects is 21 thousand 690 crores. The forest clearance problem is stuck in 172 km of the 588 km long road. There is a problem of forest clearance between Kudu to Udaypura (Lateha), Udaypura to Bhogu section (Latehar), Bhogu to Shankha (Palamu) and Basukinath to Deoghar (Deoghar). Whereas under Varanasi Kolkata Express Way, there is a problem of forest clearance in Chatra Bypass (Chatra), Deoria to Donoreshan (Chatra-Hazaribagh), Donoreshan to Bongabar package (Hazaribagh-Ramgarh), Bongabar to Lepo package (Ramgarh-Bokaro), Lepo to Kamalapur package (Bokaro). Whereas under the new road project, there is a problem of forest clearance between Deoghar bypass, Gumla bypass, Keretya to Kyondpani, Kyondpani to Latra and Latra to Sithio.
