Family members protest keeping body on road, seek driver’s arrest

Family members of a youth who died after being hit by a truck on Saturday night protested by keeping the body; deceased along with his freind were injured after scooter was hit by truck near Ayodhya Nagar police station.

On Sunday morning, after conducting the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family.

In the afternoon, the family members kept the body at Ayodhya intersection and protested demanding the arrest of the accused driver. The family has also demanded proper compensation. The family alleged that the accused driver has been released after being caught.

According to the information, Akash  Gujarati (18) of H Sector Ayodhya Nagar was going home with his friend on an scooter at around 11 pm. Akash worked at a washing center.

Near Ayodhya police station, a truck hit their scooter. Akash, who was sitting behind, died. The deceased was the only son. The deceased's father Kailash said that after the accident, the Dial 100 present nearby chased and caught the accused driver. After this, he was released. The accused should be arrested immediately.

Local residents said that after the accident, injured Nitesh was not taken to the hospital in a police vehicle. He was taken to the hospital later. The accused driver was caught on the spot, but later, releasedreleased.

On receiving information about the incident, Congress leader Ravindra Sahu Jhoomarwala also reached the spot. After talking to Ayodhyanagar ACP and TI, he demanded to file an FIR against the dumper owner and driver and arrest them.

During the demonstration on Sunday, the police had come to give advice. The deceased's uncle Sanjay said that 25 thousand rupees have been received for the last rites. We are demanding proper compensation and to arrest the accused soon.

Police station in-charge said that the accused driver has been taken into custody.
