Ensure flawless arrangements and seamless counting: Bhadoo

Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India, Ajay Bhadoo on Wednesday conducted a review of the arrangements regarding the preparations for the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 by interacting with all the officers of the state through video conferencing. Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan joined this VC from NIC Indore and apprised about the preparations and arrangements made for the counting of votes in all the Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies of the state. Returning Officers and Collectors and District Election Officers of all 29 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies of the state participated in the VC virtually.

In the VC, Deputy Election Commissioner Bhadoo directed that preparations and necessary arrangements related to the vote counting should be finalized promptly, ensuring counting of votes is completed swiftly. All necessary resources and arrangements should be available at the counting place. Train all counting personnel by May 31. Allow only authorized persons to enter the counting venue. The Deputy Election Commissioner discussed with all the Returning Officers and Collectors and District Election Officers and Police Officers and obtained feedback on the preparations made so far for counting and directed them to conduct smooth counting.

Chief Electoral Officer Rajan briefed the Deputy Election Commissioner about the preparations being made for the counting of votes to be held on Tuesday, 4 June in all the districts. Rajan informed that all the preparations for counting have been completed by all the Returning Officers and District Election Officers by establishing better coordination with the police administration. The first phase of counting randomization has also been completed. The final training of counting personnel will be completed by 31 May in all the districts. He informed that all the guidelines and protocols of the Election Commission of India are being strictly followed regarding counting of votes. There will be a three-tier security system at all the counting venues.

For smooth and uninterrupted counting of votes, arrangements for adequate tables, counting personnel, micro observers and other necessary resources have been completed. Arrangements are being made so that the counting results are available promptly.

He informed that on June 4, the counting of postal ballots will be done by the Returning Officers in a separate room at the counting venue itself.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Kaul, Inspector General of Police and State Police Nodal Officer Anshuman Singh, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Shri Basant Kurre and Tarun Rathi and other officers were also present in the VC.
