The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in Garhwa is helping orphaned girls after they lost their parents.
Ravi Chaudhary, the Secretary of DLSA Garhwa, said a team went to Bijka village in the Bhandariya block after an article appeared in the newspaper. This action was guided by Nalin Kumar, the Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson of the DLSA. The team included LADC Chief Praveen Kumar Sahu, PLV Lazarus Tirki, Jesinta Toppo, and Shivpujan Chaudhary. They aimed to gather information about the orphaned children in the area.
Reports show that the girls' parents died in September 2024. Their elder sister has been missing for about three months. The girls, now without guardians, have had to beg for food.
In response, the DLSA has acted quickly to help the orphans. They have started the enrolment process for one girl at the Kasturba Gandhi Residential School in Bhandariya. They contacted Block Education Extension Officer Kaisar Raj to speed up her admission. The second girl, her sister, will be cared for by their brother when he returns from working elsewhere.
The DLSA has also filed a report with the Bhandariya police to find their missing elder sister.
Local villagers suggested that Saroj Devi, Chita Devi, Rajmati Devi, Prasad Singh, and Satyendra Singh be appointed as guardians for the two girls. This will ensure their safety until further plans are made.
