A meeting of the District Advisory Committee took place at the Garhwa Collectorate, presided over by Deputy Commissioner and District Appropriate Authority (PC & PNDT) Shekhar Jamuar. During this meeting, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ashok Kumar presented on the PC and PNDT Act, offering valuable insights into its stipulations.
The Deputy Commissioner ordered action against unauthorised clinics in Garhwa district and outlined plans to close down illegally operating facilities. During the meeting, two applications for new clinic licences were reviewed, with the DC mandating the issuance of licences, ensuring that the necessary documentation was in order.
Ultrasound centres nearing the end of their licence period were advised to apply for renewal. The Civil Surgeon informed those present about new regulations, including the requirement to display the doctor's name, mobile number, and photograph outside the centre. Moreover, a sign stating "No gender testing conducted here" was deemed essential. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the urgent need for these new rules to be implemented and suggested surprise inspections of functioning ultrasound centres every 15 days, directing that two notices be issued for non-compliance before sealing any centre.
The Civil Surgeon reported that procedures are underway to file FIRs against 17 ultrasound centres in Garhwa. Additionally, under the informer/decoit scheme, citizens are encouraged to assist in stopping gender testing, with a reward of ₹40,000 offered for information that leads to prosecution.
The DC thoroughly reviewed the HMIS portal, ANC registration, the number of pregnant women, and other duties of the health department. He instructed officials to identify unvaccinated children and ensure their immunisation.
Among those present at the meeting were Civil Surgeon Dr. Ashok Kumar, DDM Sujit Kumar Munda, and various other medical officers.
