Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla reviewed the progress of the Green Energy Project in Rewa division on Sunday.
Instructing officials to expedite the project, he underlined the contribution of the Bansagar canal in enhancing wheat and paddy production in the area. The review was held at the Commissioner's office in the city. Shukla said there is a sufficient quantity of rice straw (crop residue) available for setting up three Green Energy Plants in Rewa district alone.
Issuing directives for the timely commencement of a proposed Green Energy Plant in Gurh, Shukla said that low-yield areas could easily supply raw material for the plant by cultivating Napier grass. The establishment of the projects will allow farmers to generate revenue from their barren and less fertile lands. He said the private company responsible for the project should complete the survey work quickly and start construction.
The establishment of this plant will also help solve the problem of stubble burning and the issue of straw. Now, alongside rice, farmers will also earn income from straw, he said.He told officials that 1,000 hectares of land are available at Mauganj for the plant. Applications should be made within seven days for acquiring the land and setting up the plant. Plans to set up two plants at Gurh and one in Sirmaur should also be implemented.Collectors of Mauganj, Satna, and Rewa shared information about the availability of raw materials and land for the proposed projects in their jurisdictions.
Satna Collector, Anurag Verma, also presented the progress of the energy plant at Nahod. The meeting was attended by executives of Reliance Green Energy Projects. The company plans to establish ten such facilities in the division. The projects will generate a large number of employment opportunities for youth, as the straw and grass will need to be compressed into raw material required by the energy-generating units. The meeting was attended by Commissioner BS Jamod, Deputy Collector Shreyas Gokhale, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Rajesh Mishra and and a host of other officials.
