In preparation for the 2024 Assembly General Elections, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Vijaya Jadhav, inaugurated the SVEEP War Room on Friday. This initiative, aimed at increasing voter turnout, was launched in the presence of key officials, including Returning Officer-cum-Additional Collector M. Mumtaz Ansari, DSP Headquarters Animesh Gupta, and Senior SVEEP Nodal Officer Prabhash Dutta.
Alongside this, the SVEEP Calendar was unveiled at the Collectorate auditorium, outlining voter awareness activities such as Booth Level Officer training, rock band shows, senior voter engagement, and various youth-centric programs. These initiatives will run until November 10, 2024, aiming to increase voter awareness across all demographics.
During the media briefing, DC Jadhav emphasized the importance of the 2024 elections as a celebration of democracy, urging first-time voters to actively participate. She highlighted the ease of the voting process with the introduction of facilities like the Voter Information Slip (VIS) to assist voters in locating their details.
SVEEP Nodal Officer Prabhash Dutta emphasized that merely possessing a Voter ID card does not ensure a person’s registration in the voter list. Voters must confirm their name is listed on the respective polling station's electoral roll. Also key district officials, including Returning Officer Bermo-cum-SDO Manoj Kumar and DSP City Alok Kumar, attended the event alongside media representatives.
