Punjab Speaker advocates responsible fertilizer use among farmers
Chandigarh: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Sunday urged the farmers to use fertilizers judiciously during the upcoming wheat sowing season, emphasizing that excessive fertilizer usage diminishes land fertility. He advised reducing urea and utilizing DAP fertilizer as recommended by experts, suggesting NPK as a phosphorus alternative. To support farmers, he encouraged contacting the Veer Kisan Call Center (toll-free: 18001801551) for guidance. Sandhwan also highlighted the importance of in situ management of paddy straw to enhance soil fertility and commended farmers who refrain from stubble burning, promoting an eco-friendly agricultural approach.
Haryana Govt invites applications for state level Women Award till Dec 27
Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Sunday invited applications for the state level Women Award, recognizing women who have made significant contributions across various fields. Interested candidates can submit their applications until December 27. Spokesperson informed that the primary aim of this award is to provide special recognition to women excelling in diverse areas, by awarding them the ‘Indira Gandhi Mahila Shakti Award’, the ‘Kalpana Chawla Shaurya Award’, ‘Behan Shano Devi Panchayati Raj Award’, and ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awards. Additionally, certificates and monetary awards will be presented to ANMs, nurses, female MPWs, women sportspersons, government employees, social workers, women entrepreneurs, and literate women group members.
Punjab secures more PMAY funds than Haryana: BJP leader
Chandigarh: Punjab BJP vice-president Arvind Khanna on Sunday claimed that Punjab has received more funds under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) than Haryana. According to recent RTI data, Punjab secured Rs 1,825.78 crore, surpassing Haryana’s Rs 1,673 crore. Khanna criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for diverting attention from pressing state issues, including law and order, youth drug problems, and economic mismanagement. He urged the State Government to prioritize governance and accountability instead of engaging in unwarranted slander against the Centre.
