Punjab Govt releases Rs 2-cr for repair and maintenance of Ambedkar Bhawans
Chandigarh: Punjab Government has allocated Rs two crore for the year 2024-25 for the repair and maintenance of Ambedkar Bhawans established in six districts of the state. Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Wednesday said that under the Dr BR Ambedkar Bhawan Construction Scheme, approval has been given to release funds. Specifically, Rs 30 lakh for Amritsar, Rs 30.85 lakh for Ferozepur, Rs 50 lakh for Patiala, Rs 20.50 lakh for Sangrur, Rs 23.47 lakh for Faridkot and Rs 45.18 lakh for Roopnagar have been allocated for the Ambedkar Bhawans in these districts.
Assuming Charge, Mundian outlines his commitment for pro-people initiatives
Chandigarh: Sahnewal MLA Hardeep Singh Mundian on Wednesday assumed charge as the Cabinet Minister for Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Water Supply and Sanitation and Housing and Urban Development. He outlined his commitment to introduce pro-people initiatives within the public delivery system to enhance the functionality of the Revenue and Housing and Urban Development departments. Additionally, he aims to bolster the state's water supply and sanitation infrastructure for the betterment of all residents.
Dr Ravjot Assumes Charge, presides over introductory meeting with Local Govt officials
Chandigarh: Dr Ravjot Singh on Wednesday assumed the charge of his office as Punjab Cabinet Minister for Local Government and Parliamentary Affairs in the presence of Hoshiarpur Raj Kumar Chabbewal, his colleague Cabinet Ministers Aman Arora and Harbhajan Singh ETO, family members, party MLAs, and dignitaries. Dr Ravjot pledged to diligently discharge his duties and make a meaningful contribution to the government's initiatives aimed at promoting the state's welfare and development. He also convened introductory meeting with Local Government Department officials, and issued directions to compile a comprehensive status report on these projects, aiming to identify and resolve challenges promptly, and ensuring timely completion.
Construction commences for School of Eminence in Kiratpur Sahib
Chandigarh: Punjab Government has taken a significant step towards fulfilling a decades-old demand of the historic town of Kiratpur Sahib in Sri Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency with the construction work on two new blocks for the School of Eminence beginning here. The state’s Public Works Department officials initiated these projects on Wednesday in the presence of local residents, said the state Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. “Kiratpur Sahib had been neglected for decades, and this development addresses a long-standing demand of the inhabitants of this historically and religiously significant town,” he said.
Delegation of 1158 Asst Profs, Librarians thanks CM
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday reiterated the state government’s firm commitment to ensure the well being of every strata of society. Mann, during a meeting with the delegation of 1158 Assistant Professors and Librarians, who had called on the Chief Minister to express their gratitude after the verdict of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, said that the State Government has made every effort to give relief to all sections of society. The delegation profusely thanked the Chief Minister for making every effort to bail them out from the legal tangle. Mann said that the State Government has evolved a foolproof mechanism for the entire recruitment process due to which not even a single appointment out of more than 45,000 have been challenged so far in any court.
