Pb Vigilance Bureau arrests Tehsildar, his driver for accepting Rs 50,000 bribe
Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Friday apprehended Tehsildar Dera Baba Nanak, Lakhwinder Singh along with his driver for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000. An official spokesperson of the state VB said the accused has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Sukhdev Singh Sohi. The complainant approached the VB and alleged that Ajaib Singh had filed a complaint against him regarding a land dispute which was marked for verification to the Tehsildar. During this process, Sukhdev Singh Sohi, along with Dilbagh Singh Numberdar from Village Ratta, the Tehsildar who had demanded a bribe of Rs. 50,000 through Dilbagh Singh in exchange for favoring Sukhdev Singh Sohi in his report. After a preliminary inquiry, the VB has laid a trap in which the accused Tehsildar were caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. The accused handed over the bribe money to his driver and the VB team has also arrested him as an accused being his accomplice to handle the illegal gratification.
Dr. Baljit Kaur holds Meeting with Representatives of "ETT 5994 Backlog Union"

Order CBI probe into Rs 100-cr cyber fraud complaint against Minister: Majithia to CM
Chandigarh: A Day after a woman Inspector submitted Rs 100 crore cyber fraud complaint to the state police chief against Punjab Cabinet Minister and his IPS officer wife, Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Friday requested the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to order a CBI probe into the same “as per the wishes of the accused Minister Harjot Bains”. Majithia, addressing the media, said that following the expose in which Inspector Amanjot Kaur had accused the Minister and his wife Jyoti Yadav of obstructing investigation into a fraudulent call centre operating out of a basement in Mohali and even shielding the crooks, Harjot Bains had announced that he welcomed a fair probe into the entire matter. “The Chief Minister should go by Bains’ word and order an impartial CBI probe into the matter as requested by the minister,” he added.
SAD to hold district level dharnas to force AAP Govt to fulfill pre-poll promises
Chandigarh: SAD working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar on Friday announced that the party would hold district-level dharnas to force the AAP government to fulfill the promises made to the people. “AAP Government has not only gone back on all its promises but has bankrupted the State besides ushering in goonda raj and overseeing the spread of drug addiction across the State…No development work is being done even as civic services are in a mess,” said Bhundar, declaring that the SAD would not remain silent.

Met Office warns of low flash flood risk in 5 districts of Himachal
Shimla: As rains forced the closure of 40 roads in Himachal Pradesh, the local Met office on Friday warned of low flash flood risk in five districts of the state. The local meteorological office has warned of low flash flood risk in parts of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi and Bilaspur districts till Saturday. It has issued yellow alert of heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning in 10 out of 12 districts of the state, barring tribal districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti on Friday. A total of 40 roads including 16 in Mandi, 10 in Kangra, nine in Shimla, two in Kullu and one each in Sirmaur, Una and Lahaul and Spiti districts are closed for vehicular traffic as per the state emergency operation centre. As many as 32 power schemes have also been affected in the state, the centre said.
