Not afraid of political challenges: Sukhu
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday expressed confidence in facing political challenges, stating that the Congress party remains undaunted.
“We are not afraid of political challenges…We will face every challenge with determination and will realize the vision of self-reliant Himachal by the year 2032,” he said during his tour of Solan assembly constituency while addressing a huge public gathering at the old bus stand, Solan.
Emphasizing the government's commitment to the welfare and bright future of the people of the hill state, Sukhu highlighted various developmental schemes and policies aimed at realizing the vision of a self-reliant Himachal by 2032.
Manpreet Badal stable after angioplasty
Bathinda: Punjab’s former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal on Sunday suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a hospital. The 61-year-old leader underwent an angioplasty as there was a blockage in one of his arteries, a doctor attending to him said, adding that his condition is stable. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal went to the hospital to inquire about the health of Manpreet, who is his cousin, and the nephew of former Chief Minister and Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal. “He is perfectly ok,” said Sukhbir. SAD leader Sikandar Singh Maluka said that Manpreet was taken to the hospital after he complained of pain on Sunday. Notably, Manpreet switched from the Congress to the BJP in January last year. He had joined the Congress in 2016.
Mann Govt’s lax attitude increases drug abuse in Punjab: Bajwa
Chandigarh: Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday accused the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of adopting sheer laxity in curbing the rapidly growing drug abuse in the state. “Punjab witnessed the most drug overdose deaths in the country in the past couple of years. Around six young succumbed to a drug overdose this week…Despite numerous claims by AAP-led Punjab Government, the drug supply chain has not been broken. As per a news report, women in Punjab have also indulged in drug peddling in large numbers. As many 9631 women drug peddlers were nabbed in the country and 33 per cent of them belonged to Punjab,” said Bajwa.
PGIMER organized Glaucoma Walk at Sukhna Lake
Chandigarh: Glaucoma is the leading cause of preventable irreversible blindness, and the figures are increasing. One in each 200 people, aged 40, has glaucoma, and the number rises to one in eight, aged 80. For decades PGIMER’s Advanced Eye Centre, Chandigarh, has been working to raise awareness about glaucoma and the importance of prevention. On Sunday, the Centre conducted a series event under the leadership of department head Prof Surinder Singh Pandav, and events were a huge success. The program started with an awareness walk beginning from Rock Garden at 7.30 am with the slogan of “Uniting for Glaucoma Free world”. The event was flagged off by PGIMER’s former director Padmashri Prof Jagat Ram.
‘High-quality material should be used in road construction work’
Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Speaker Ranbir Singh Gangwa on Sunday directed officers to use high-quality construction materials for road construction projects so that citizens can benefit from them for longer periods. Gangwa, while commissioning the construction work of Hisar-Tosham road, directed the concerned officers to ensure the completion of road construction projects within stipulated time frame to provide citizens with proper road facilities. Gangwa said that the government is committed to fulfill wider public welfare works based on priority and ensuring equitable development across all state sectors. Development works based on priority are being carried out in all villages under Nalwa assembly constituency.
CM Relief Fund makes financial assistance process simple for treatment
Chandigarh: Haryana Government has taken another step towards providing better healthcare services to the people by facilitating application process for financial assistance on medical grounds under the Chief Minister Relief Fund through SARAL portal. This has made the process much simpler and easier, said an official spokesperson, adding that now, applicants can avail the facility for financial assistance through SARAL portal. Financial aid received from CM Relief Fund will be directly transferred to the applicant or beneficiary's bank account. Spokesperson said that applicants can apply on the portal using their Parivar Pehchan Patra ID.
Hry Minister inaugurates various development works in Bithmara
Chandigarh: Haryana Labour Minister Anoop Dhanak on Sunday emphasized the significance of Gau Seva in attaining prosperity and well-being, stating that there are no greater means than to serve cows. Chandigarh’s first all women tattoo studio opened
Chandigarh: Aarzoo Sharma, a young tattoo artist, on Sunday unveiled her first tattoo studio, Tattoo Baby in Sector 8. Actor-Model, Jonita Doda inaugurated the studio, which is the city's first all-women tattoo artists studio. Aarzoo, who describes herself as “travelling tattoo artist”, said that she has travelled enough, seen the world with the eyes of a tattoo artist and got a good exposure of preferences of artistic expression of the people of various cities especially Delhi, Mumbai, and Chandigarh.
About 300 take part in a walkathon on kidney disease awareness
Chandigarh: As many as 300 people including doctors participated in an Ivy Hospital’s walkathon on kidney disease awareness to mark World Kidney Day at Sukhna Lake on Sunday. The walkathon was flagged-off by Chandigarh Mayor Kuldeep Kumar. Dr Avinash Srivastava, director urology and renal transplant and Dr Raka Kaushal director nephrology at Ivy were also present.
