BJP has control over Independents & small parties: Rahul Gandhi urges people to vote carefully

Tuesday, 01 October 2024 | PNS | Ambala/Chandigarh

Urging people of Haryana to vote carefully, Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the control of small parties and independent candidates of the State is in the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Small parties, which are seeking to split anti-BJP votes, will pave the way for the BJP to return to power in the State “There is a need to be cautious of them. The electoral battle is directly between Congress and BJP,” he said.

“Give every precious vote to the Congress candidates. This time in Haryana, a government of all communities, that provides justice and participation of all, is going to be formed,” he promised.

Speaking at a public meeting at Narayangarh in Ambala, Rahul said the BJP Government has created two Hindustans in the country today. “One of big capitalists like Adani-Ambani, which is for only 5 percent of the people, while on the other hand, India is of 95 percent poor, labourers, farmers, Dalits and backward classes. The Modi Government is taking money out of the pockets of 95 percent people and putting it in the pockets of his few billionaire friends,” he said.

“Money is going in Adani's pocket like a tsunami and money is coming out of the pockets of the poor like a storm. That is why people do not want two India, but one India with justice for all. That is why the Congress government puts money in the pockets of 95 percent deprived classes through its welfare policies and schemes, so that the difference between the rich and the poor can end,” he added.

Later, the Congress leaders started a Vijay Sankalp Yatra, which would cover the Assembly segments of Ambala and Kurukshetra. Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, KC Venugopal, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Sirsa MP Kumari Selja and Congress State President Chaudhary Udaibhan were also present with Rahul.

In his address, Rahul said respect for all sections is necessary within the government, but at the same time, their economic upliftment is also necessary. “Every section needs money for education, health and the future of children, but the BJP government puts a lot of money of the country in the pockets of billionaires like Ambani-Adani through its policies,” he stated.  “The Congress wants that the same amount of money should also be given to the poor, farmers, workers, Dalits and backward classes through welfare schemes. If the Modi government can waive off the loan of Rs 16 lakh crore of big capitalists, then why not of the poor and farmers? This injustice will not be tolerated. Two types of policies cannot work in the country,” he said.

Rahul further said that in 10 years of BJP, employment has ended in Haryana. “The youth are compelled to sell their farms and take up to Rs 50 lakh on high interest and go abroad through the Dunki route through forests and sea. Farmers' lands are being snatched in the name of development, but the government never takes the land of capitalists. When three black laws were imposed on farmers, farmers were forced to take to the streets,” he stated.

“With a feeling of patriotism, children of farmers, workers and children of the middle class used to go to the border as soldiers. BJP has cheated them and Modi snatched the permanent jobs and pension of the soldiers in the name of Agniveer,” he added.

He said, “By conducting caste census, we want to see how many people are from which caste and how much right they are getting. Today, out of 90 officers running the country, only 3 are OBCs. Out of 100 Rupees of the budget, only 1 Rupee is in the hands of a Dalit officer. There is no Dalit CEO in 250 big companies. BJP is opposing caste census so that this truth does not come before the public.”

The Congress leader said that drug addiction is spreading continuously in Haryana. He pointed out that 3,000 kg of heroin was recovered from Adani's port in Gujarat, but no action was taken. Small traders have also been ruined due to GST and demonetization. Two lakh government posts are lying vacant. Due to this, the youth are going abroad out of compulsion, Rahul added.

BJP disrespected farmers & showered lathi on them: Priyanka Gandhi

In her address, Priyanka Gandhi said, “This land always inspires us to fight against injustice. Farmers, soldiers and wrestlers of Haryana have increased the honour of the country on every front, but the BJP disrespected the farmers and showered lathi on them,” she said.

“The youth of Haryana today are feeling humiliated by unemployment. Two lakh posts are lying vacant, but the papers are leaked and recruitment does not take place. Poor families have started panicking due to inflation. The BJP has only slogans in the name of schemes. The BJP came with the Parivar Pehchan Patra, but it has become a Parivar Pareshani Patra. Today there is a wave of Congress in the state and by taking it forward, BJP has to be uprooted from its roots,” she added.

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that our leader Rahul Gandhi had injected new energy in all the Congress workers and the people of Haryana by taking out Bharat Jodo Yatra. “Once again, he is taking out a yatra in Haryana, so this energy is increasing manifold. Now the whole country is looking towards Haryana. BJP will be completely swept away in this tsunami of Congress,” he said.
Sirsa Congress MP Kumari Selja said that BJP has neither any policy nor any leader in Haryana. “Now the days of BJP are over. Congress is coming to power in Haryana with a huge majority,” she said.
