In a function organized at TCB Division of BHEL, Bhopal, SM Ramanathan, Executive Director accompanied by General Managers Avinash Chandra, GP Baghel, SK Mahajan, Alok Sengar, Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, handed over the "Compact & Energy Efficient 110 MVAR 765 kV Reactor" manufactured by TRM Department to POWERGRID for installation at Khavda Substation. On this occasion, Ramanathan appreciated the performance of TCB Division and motivated the engineers to design and manufacture better products.
BHEL, Bhopal has recently developed, manufactured and successfully tested this reactor in presence of POWERGRID representatives. POWERGRID has placed an order for 72 nos. of 765 kV class reactors to BHEL, out of which first reactor has been supplied.
These reactors are also designed to be compact and energy efficient, conforming to the total loss and resistive loss limits prescribed by Central Electricity Authority. They are designed with special FEM software to minimize vibrations and stresses on the surface of the reactor tank. These technical parameters were also demonstrated during its successful testing at UHV Lab, BHEL Bhopal.
These reactors will be installed at POWERGRID's Khavda-II Pooling Substation, Gujarat and will help in harnessing the energy generated from various solar and wind power plants in Gujarat and transmitting it to the needy industries and other load centres. It will also be a significant contribution of BHEL in achieving India's target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil power capacity by the year 2030.
