The Auto Cross motorsport event was inaugurated at the Vehicle Factory in Jabalpur on Friday, the event is part of the annual AVNL Chairman Cup 2024. C Ramachandran, Director of Armoured Vehicles Corporation Limited, Chennai attended the ceremony which was presided over by Sanjeev Kumar Bhola, Chief General Manager of the Vehicle Factory, Jabalpur (VFJ).
Sanjay Malhotra, Regional Manager of MP Tourism Jabalpur was special guest at the event which features motorsports, athletics, kabaddi, and contract bridge from October 15 to 20 at the vehicle factory.
The Auto Cross event began at the VFJ test track and will last for two days, attracting participants from across the country, including teams from the Indian Army, ITBP, Indian Navy, Defence employees, and civilians. This event marks the first-ever truck auto cross in India, certified by FMSCI, winners will be announced on October 19.
The flag-off for the Auto Cross was conducted by the chief guests, inckuding Ramachandran and Bhola, and Malhotra. Winners of the athletics, kabaddi, and contract bridge competitions were honoured at a special ceremony at the VFJ stadium, attended by senior officials like IG Jabalpur Anil Singh Kushwaha and CGM IOLMK Rajeev Mathur.
In contract bridge (pair), VFJ earned both gold and silver, while MTPF won bronze. For contract bridge (duplicate), VFJ won gold, MTPF claimed silver, and OFMK received bronze.
In athletics, Vehicle Factory Jabalpur achieved 08 gold, 08 silver, and 07 bronze; Heavy Vehicle Factory Chennai garnered 09 gold, 08 silver, and 09 bronze; Engine Factory Chennai received 07 gold, 04 silver, and 05 bronze; Ordnance Factory Medak obtained 02 gold, 06 silver, and 02 bronze; and Machine Tool and Prototype Factory Ambernath secured 02 bronze.Additionally, a marathon was organised on Friday morning, where Rajesh Mahato finished first, followed by Pankaj, and Jitendra.
