The President of India today allocated portfolios among ministers of the Union Government, who took oath of office and secrecy with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9.
Among the Union Ministers Koderma MP Annapurna Devi has been made the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, while Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth has been given charge of Minister of State in the Ministry of Defence.
Among the 72 ministers of the new government, 30 have been made Cabinet Ministers, five with independent charge, and 36 have been made Ministers of State.
Both Annapurna Devi and Sanjay Seth have won their seats for the second consecutive terms. Annapurna was Minister of State in the HRD Minister in the Modi 2.0 government, while Sanjay Seth was not given the ministerial berth.
Annapurna Devi Yadav, born on February 2, 1970, in Ajmeri, Bihar (now part of Jharkhand), has had a distinguished political career that spans over two decades, representing the Kodarma constituency as a member of the Legislative Assembly, initially as a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) before joining the BJP.
She began her political career as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Koderma constituency, a position she held from 1998 to 2014. Her tenure in the State assembly was marked by dedicated service to her constituency.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she did not contest, but she made a strong comeback in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Koderma constituency, marking her entry into national politics.
While 64-year-old Sanjay Seth is considered a fiery leader of BJP. He is very active at the organizational level. Not only this, he is deeply involved in promoting socio-cultural activities. He always played an important role in the organizing committee like Kavi Sammelan, Dahi Handi Competition, Sri Krishna Janmotsav.
He got the reward of being associated with social concerns in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. When the central leadership of BJP made him its candidate from Ranchi Lok Sabha seat, he did not disappoint the party and defeated former Union Minister Subodhkant Sahay by a huge margin. In 2024, he got a chance to represent Ranchi parliamentary constituency again.
Sanjay Seth has always been associated with the common people. He has always been working in the social and cultural scenario. He also kept getting the reward for this from undivided Jharkhand to the formation of Jharkhand state.
In 1999, Sanjay Seth was made the President of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries. Apart from this, he was also a member of the Local Board, State Bank of India, Patna, Bihar and Jharkhand. After this, after the formation of Jharkhand state in 2005, he remained a member of the Local Board, State Bank of India, Patna, Bihar and Jharkhand. Sanjay Seth became the chairman of Jharkhand State Khadi and Village Industries Board in 2016.
Sanjay Seth played an important role in the Namo campaign in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Sanjay Seth's social image got a new identity as a political face in 2019.
