The Department of Dietetics of AIIMS Bhopal celebrated National Nutrition Month from September 1 to 30, 2024. Throughout this period, various community and school-level programs were organized in Bhopal to promote healthy dietary habits and sustainable lifestyle changes.
On October 3, 2024, a Continuous Nutrition Education (CNE) session was held where guests, keynote speakers, and winners of the poster competition were honored.
During this event, Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh remarked, "National Nutrition Month reminds us that sustainable dietary habits can significantly improve the health of individuals and communities. At AIIMS Bhopal, we are committed to promoting nutrition awareness and education, so that everyone, especially the younger generation, can be empowered to make healthy choices."
Throughout National Nutrition Month, the department provided nutrition and health information to a total of 1,771 adults and 240 children through outreach activities. The campaign aimed to encourage behavioral changes that promote long-term health and wellness. A special low-cost millet-based recipe book containing nine healthy recipes, utilizing locally available ingredients, was distributed during the event.
Additionally, lecture sessions were conducted for primary and secondary school students. A food safety and nutrition awareness program was also organized under the Swachhata Hi Sewa Abhiyan, where participants were educated about safe food practices, the importance of nutrient-rich foods, and proper handwashing techniques. Furthermore, a tree plantation drive titled "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" was conducted to promote environmental conservation.
