A seven-year-old girl lost her life as her heart rate shot up after being chased by a stray canine on Friday afternoon. Parents rushed the child to a hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.The unfortunate incident took place at Bohra Bakhal in the city. Family members later protested by bringing traffic in the area to a standstill.
CCTV footage of the incident has been found.
The deceased has been identified as Insiya, the daughter of Mustufa Lohawala, a trader in the Freeganj area. Residents said there were already over 150 cases of dog bites in the past month.
